View all destinationsThe Maldives' dry season runs from November through April, with the northeast monsoon bringing lower humidity, calmer seas, and the most reliable conditions for diving and water-based activity — December through March is the most in-demand period, with the finest properties reserved well in advance. The wet season, from May through October, brings the southwest monsoon — more frequent rain and rougher seas on the western sides of atolls, though conditions vary considerably by region and many days remain clear. Rates during the wet season are considerably lower, and for guests with flexibility, May, June, and October often combine good conditions with greater availability. The Maldives' position near the equator means temperatures remain warm and consistent throughout the year, with the choice of season driven primarily by sea conditions rather than temperature.
The Maldives comprises nearly twelve hundred coral islands grouped into atolls, and the character of a stay here is defined almost entirely by water — its clarity, its colour, and a guest's proximity to the reef. Tucasa's Maldives villa rentals include overwater properties built on stilts above the lagoon with direct access to the water below, private island estates where a single property occupies an entire island surrounded by reef, and beachfront villas set on larger islands with both lagoon and ocean-facing positions. Each property is selected for its position relative to the reef and the lagoon, the quality of its overwater or beachfront design, and the management team responsible for the day-to-day experience. A villa rental in the Maldives through Tucasa offers a level of seclusion that even the region's most established resorts, by their nature as shared properties, cannot replicate for a private group.
It depends on the nature of the visit. Atolls closer to Velana International Airport offer shorter transfer times, suited to shorter stays or guests who prefer to minimise travel time. Atolls further afield, reached by seaplane, offer greater seclusion and often more pristine reef systems. Private island properties offer the most complete sense of remove, with an entire island available to a single group. Tucasa can advise based on group size, dates, and the character of the stay.
November through April is the dry season — calmer seas, lower humidity, and the most reliable conditions for diving. December through March is the most in-demand period, with the finest properties reserved well in advance. May through October is the wet season, with more frequent rain and variable sea conditions depending on the atoll, but considerably lower rates and, for guests with flexibility, good value in the shoulder months.
Transfers to Maldivian resorts and private islands are typically by seaplane or speedboat from Velana International Airport, depending on the distance of the atoll. Our concierge team coordinates all transfer logistics, including timing with international connecting flights, so that the seaplane or boat journey forms part of a seamless arrival.
Yes — our concierge team arranges snorkelling and diving excursions to the surrounding reef systems, including channels frequented by manta rays and reef sharks, as well as sunset cruises, dolphin watching, and excursions to sandbanks. All experiences are arranged through our local relationships in advance.
