La Corsara
Amalfi Coast, Italy

La Corsara occupies its own island off the Sorrento peninsula, a rocky outcrop of pine, olive, and prickly pear with the Li Galli archipelago visible on the horizon and the Amalfi Coast rising to the east. The villa is reached by boat and arranged across the island in a series of stone-walled terraces, connected by flagstone paths and cut-stone staircases that step down toward the water.
The main house is a pair of linked pavilions finished in white stucco over local stone, with shuttered arched windows and a long timber-ceilinged interior that runs from a marble-topped kitchen through a formal dining room set for fourteen. The interior pairs polished plank floors with antique gilt consoles, large-scale seascape paintings, and contemporary upholstered chairs — a deliberate layering of Neapolitan baroque and modern. A sea-facing terrace shaded by a reed-ceilinged pergola functions as the primary dining room for most of the year, directly above the water.
Six bedrooms are distributed across the island, including two cut into the original rock — vaulted cave suites with hand-painted majolica floors, carved niches, and ensuite showers worked into the stone. Outside, the program is generous: an infinity pool built into the cliff edge with a teak deck and striped loungers, a red-and-white striped lounge terrace under a second pergola, a working kitchen garden with fennel, brassicas, and olive trees, and private sea access from the rocks below.
The nearest mainland village is Marina del Cantone, with Positano, Capri, and the Amalfi Coast within short boat range. Naples airport is approximately one hour by road plus boat transfer.
