Villa Stradella
Los Angeles, CA

Above the Stradella Road in Bel Air, this contemporary residence — designed by architect David Maman in collaboration with SAOTA — rises in stacked white volumes across three levels, wood-slatted screens and glass walls tracing the hillside. A gated motor court leads to the entry, the house opening toward layered terraces that hold the city and the ocean in the distance.
Inside, a stone-clad staircase anchors the home beneath a custom bronze-and-alabaster chandelier, floating oak treads rising past the open living, dining, and kitchen spaces. Wood ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass frame the hillside beyond, and a wood-paneled bar holds glassware along floating shelves nearby. Interiors, shaped by designer Dieter Vander Velpen, carry through to the primary suite, where a soaking tub carved from a single block of stone sits before glass doors opening onto a private deck.
Outside, a pool stretches beneath a wood pergola strung with lighting, and a rooftop terrace holds its own lounge and jacuzzi above the city. Below, a cedar sauna and a stone-clad steam room anchor a private wellness area, and a screening room finished in soft upholstery offers its own quiet retreat. The hillside holds close around the house, the quiet settling in at every level.
