Villa Zen
Los Angeles, CA

Behind a gated motor court on Ellison Drive, this single-level estate spreads low and flat across its hillside lot, a dark wood overhang shading walls of Fleetwood glass that slide open the full width of the house. Bamboo hedges wrap the property on every side, holding the grounds in a private, green quiet just above Beverly Hills.
Inside, the living and dining rooms run together beneath a wood-clad wet bar and a portrait mural, a live-edge wood table anchoring one end and a curved sectional the other, glass doors open on both sides to the gardens. The kitchen holds a pair of waterfall-edge islands, one built around a red-knobbed range, the other left open for prep and gathering. A second bedroom carries its own personality, a graphic bronze-and-orange wall behind the headboard, glass doors opening straight onto the garden path. The primary suite unfolds as one continuous room — a double-sided fireplace dividing the bed from a freestanding tub, a sculptural vessel sink standing alone against the glass.
Outside, the estate becomes its own resort in miniature: a pool trimmed in fire troughs, pergolas strung with white curtains, a stacked-stone wall closing off one end of the bamboo grove, low tables built for lounging rather than dining. Sculptural orange-and-yellow seating spills across the patio toward the glass wall of the house, day fading into a lit interior at dusk — a home built to disappear into its own garden.
