Villa Black Spruce

Black Spruce Lodge sits at the top of Deer Crest, a gated pocket of the mountain above Park City where ski runs arrive at the back door and the timber-and-stone architecture settles into the pines rather than announcing itself. At ten thousand square feet, the house reads less like a rental and more like a private lodge, built for a full run of ski season without ever feeling like it's performing for a crowd.

Inside, the great room does the work a home this size needs — heavy timber trusses, a stone fireplace, and windows that keep the mountain in view from the kitchen to the seating beyond it. Eight bedrooms spread across the house without repeating themselves: two king suites with their own baths, three queen suites, two bunk rooms stacked with twin beds for kids or a crowd of friends, and a Murphy suite that folds away when it isn't needed. An elevator moves between floors, and a home theater and a game room — billiards, shuffleboard, air hockey, pinball — give the house somewhere to go after dinner.

Ski prep and an exercise room handle the practical end of a mountain trip, while a steam room, sauna, and firepit handle the rest of it. Outside, water features move through the terrace even in winter light, a small detail that makes the whole property feel considered rather than assembled. It's a house built to hold a big group and let each one of them disappear into a corner of it.
